(AUSTIN, TEXAS – August 28, 2015) – THE ADDERLEY SCHOOL for the Performing Arts is thrilled to announce an open audition for Austin children ages 9 to 12 to sing with opera superstar Andrea Bocelli and legendary producer David Foster for an upcoming PBS special in Los Angeles. The auditions will take place at Synergy located at 3425 Bee Cave Rd. Suite C1, Austin, Texas 78746 from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2. One girl and one boy will be chosen to sing with Bocelli and Foster on a PBS special that will rehearse Sept. 17 and air LIVE on Sept. 18 nationwide. Accommodation with an ADDERLEY family in Los Angeles is provided, but airfare is not included. Students will be paid for their appearance. To set up an audition time on Sept. 2, please email adderleyschoolaustin@yahoo.com.
“In 2009, several Adderley students from my California schools had the great honor of recording and touring with Andrea Bocelli and David Foster,” said Janet Adderley, ADDERLEY SCHOOL Founder. “Seven, eight and nine year old children made their Madison Square Gardens debut performing with Mr. Bocelli. They sang in his honor when he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and appeared with him on television onstage at the world famous Kodak Theatre. These experiences provided ‘once in a life time’ memories for these lucky children and their families. With the opening of our Austin School, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to offer this extraordinary opportunity to two talented Austin kids!”
THE ADDERLEY SCHOOL is also very proud to announce its fall class schedule in various Austin locations. After a very successful open house at Ballet Austin on Aug. 23 and a two week pop-up summer camp in Austin, ADDERLEY is officially launching its fall after-school program mid-September for kids ages 3 to 18 at five different Austin locations. Classes will be once a week and will culminate in an age-appropriate abridged version of a Broadway musical.
“I was born and raised in Texas,” said Janet Adderley. “My journey in life started HERE and has taken me to Yale University, a career on Broadway, roles in television and film, and my greatest life’s work (outside of raising my two daughters), which is the 25 years I’ve spent empowering kids at my theatre schools in California. Everything that I am, all that I have accomplished I owe to the training and focused mentorship I received in Texas. There are no words to express the joy I feel to be coming home to share my passion and knowledge with the next generation. Austin is an amazing place filled with the most gracious, supportive people who believe in the transformative power of music and the performing arts. I am honored to become a part of this vibrant community, to share what I’ve learned, to inspire and ignite, to ‘pass it on’.”
“Life is all about chapters, and my life has written many,” said Alana Adderley who will be heading up the ADDERLEY Austin program. “But my true calling is, and always has been, this. I feel extraordinarily blessed to have this gift — the ability and the facility to nurture, guide and inspire children in this unique and powerful way. The love and pride that erupts within me when each child breaks through their individual barriers has yet to be matched in significance (with the exception of the birth of my miraculous niece). I believe in destiny. I also believe in one’s ability to determine one’s own destiny by choice and will. This particular destiny chose me. I also, without a doubt, chose it. And I continue to choose it every day. I’m a lucky girl!”

About THE ADDERLEY SCHOOL:
THE ADDERLEY SCHOOL the Performing Arts was created in 1993 to teach children how to stand confidently in the world. With locations in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and now Austin, Texas, ADDERLEY’s method of musical theatre instruction has helped thousands of toddlers, kids and teenagers find a passion for musical theatre and a belief in their own abilities. Broadway and TV veteran, Janet Adderley, created an amazing place of adventure, learning and joy in an attempt to teach her shy, young daughter how to be heard. “If I were a color, I’d be fire engine red,” says Adderley, “If my daughter were a color, she’d be lavender. I created THE ADDERLEY SCHOOL to help my lavender girl find her red voice.”
The result can be seen in Alana Adderley, who for years has ignited a fire of passion and pride in countless ADDERLEY students. Graduates of THE ADDERLEY SCHOOL have gone on to star as “Young Cosette” on Broadway and “Winthrop” in The Music Man opposite Eric McCormack and Kristin Chenoweth at The Hollywood Bowl. They have performed for Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey and have toured with Andrea Bocelli, including a triumphant appearance at the famed Madison Square Gardens. Guest teachers and performers have included Broadway veterans like Tony-Award winning Marissa Jaret Winokur and Kristin Chenoweth, as well as industry greats like David Foster and Marc Shaiman. Janet, a Yale University graduate, has assembled an incredible staff of musical directors, choreographers, voice coaches and accompanists in all ADDERLEY SCHOOL locations. THE ADDERLEY SCHOOL does much more than teach children how to sing, act and dance. Instructors instill joy and confidence in each child one by one through intimate mentorship.
