Splice Records and St. Arnold’s Brewery partner up for another year of celebrating two of the most influential musicians in history; announce line-up, sponsors, encourages costumes for iconic birthday event

(AUSTIN, TEXAS – Jan. 5, 2018) – Houston based independent record label Splice Records, is thrilled to announce the Annual BowiElvis Fest on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 from 9 p.m. – 1:30 a.m. at The Continental Club, located at 1315 S. Congress Ave., Austin, Texas 78704. Honoring the Jan. 8 birthdays of David Bowie and Elvis, two of the most loved and influential artists of the previous century, this year’s annual incarnation will feature music by Nakia and the Blues Grifters, Pecos Hank Schyma and John Evans Band, an “Oh You Pretty Things” costume fashion contest, themed games and an appearance by Houston’s heralded burlesque troupe, Dem Damn Dames. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance here or at the door. This event is sponsored by Topo Chico, Saint Arnold, Rick Chester, Texas Direct Insurance and Deep Eddy Vodka. “This will be our second year bringing the festival to Austin, Texas,” said Shaun Brennan, founder of Splice. “Last year’s Austin event had its own vibe, was strong and fun was had by all! We expect nothing less this year as well!”

The brainchild of Hank Schyma (of favored local band Southern Backtones fame), who commemorated Elvis’ birthday at Avante Garden each year, BowiElvis Fest officially started in 2010 with an inaugural event at the infamous local venue.

“In my opinion, Hank shines more than normal at BowiElvis Fest,” said Brennan. “He often has his best performances, and as he is a man with so many talents, there is no disputing that he was carved from the same wood as Elvis and is sewn from the same cloth of David Bowie. He has style, he has charm and he knows how to have fun!”

The BowiElvis Fest will also take place in Houston on Jan. 6 at the Continental Club & the Big Top. For advance ticket info, see here.

About Splice Records:
Splice Records was founded in 2014 by a Texas businessman and film producer Shaun Brennan, along with Houston musician and philosopher Craig Kinsey, who fronted the wildly popular and award-winning band The Sideshow Tramps. The pair celebrated the partnership in July 2014 during a sold-out soft launch at the legendary Fitzgerald’s for the release of Kinsey’s “American Roots & Machines” album. Kinsey and Brennan continue to expand the label by signing Pecos Hank Schyma, John Evans, Ancient Cat Society and most recently, Arthur Yoria.
