SHY BEAST ANNOUNCES UPCOMING RELEASE OF THEIR NEW SINGLE ‘MY STRIDE’ ON MAY 19
Austin-based electro-pop band Shy Beast announces the upcoming release of new single; official single release show at The Mohawk

“‘My Stride’ is a reference to the heavy feelings that come with all the different choices you are presented in life,” said MC Glaeser. “It represents the moment of freedom you experience by simply picking a direction, or a way of being, and running with it.”
“My Stride” was recorded in Lockhart, Texas at Good Danny’s and produced, mixed and engineered by Danny Reisch (White Denim, Okkervil River, Bright Light Social Hour). The song was written by Mariclaire Glaeser and arranged by Shy Beast.
About Shy Beast:
A powerful ensemble stretches its legs and strides into its auspicious future. Shy Beast has introduced itself and offered its complex and appealing music over the past year, but now, in “My Stride,” it demonstrates its power. It is clear how the group appeals to many with its various themes and open atmospheres of possibility. Shy Beast hails from Austin but plays to the entire world.
The music showcases Mariclaire Glaeser’s immense vocal range and tones of diamond clarity. Her voice is feminine but also liberated and absolutely commanding of the songs. The guitars of David Tenczar and Andrew Bennett are undeterred in growing the forest of melodies in which Glaeser sings. Drew Silverman’s unmistakable drumming guides us through the musical abundance and back again, all hits, no misses. Farther down in the sonic underworld, Jay Cesak’s bass rhythms don’t wait for verses, choruses or instrumental breaks. They continue to call until we become the monster and dance with the beast.

After the release of their self-titled EP, the band’s Spotify plays took off, reaching tens of thousands of listeners overnight. The Huffington Post took notice of their first single “Back With Me” and recognized that, “In a scene typically dominated by men, it’s empowering to watch MC take the reins and claim her place as a badass lady in her group of creature companions.”
Most recently, Austin nonprofit and local music incubator, Black Fret, has marked the band as a 2018 Grant Nominee, giving them more local clout and visibility and putting their advisory and financial support behind the creative endeavors of the group. Austin radio station KUTX has also caught wind and has hosted the band in its live Studio 1A performance series. The stations has also premiered the single “Forever” and awarded the band “Song of The Day” for the track “For Now.”
